The Weir Group PLC is a Scottish multinational engineering company headquartered in Glasgow and focused on mining technology. Founded in 1871 by brothers George and James Weir as G. & J. Weir Ltd, originally making marine and boiler feedwater pumps for the Clyde shipyards, it repositioned as a pure-play mining business after divesting Flow Control in 2019 and Oil & Gas to Caterpillar in 2020. It now operates two segments - Minerals and ESCO - supplying slurry pumps, comminution equipment, hydrocyclones, wear-resistant materials, ground-engaging tools and mining software to customers in more than 60 countries. It is a constituent of the FTSE 100 with approximately 12,000 employees.
